Hypnobirthing & Postnatal Support
BirthCircle
Antenatal and New Parent Group Join our fortnightly antenatal and new parent group to prepare for birth and parenthood and make friends at the same time. Tea and cake provided and dads or birth partners welcome. We welcome people from pre-conception right through to crawling babies! Each session will begin with refreshments and a catch up/chat before we move on to explore a topic relating to pregnancy, birth or early parenting. We’ll finish with a deep relaxation to aid calmness and well-being. The topics we cover can be very much led by the group and we welcome new parents as well as those who are expecting. We often invite guest speakers along such as postnatal Pilates and baby massage instructors. Each session runs for 2 hours, £7 per session per person or couple (first session £3), or you can pay for a block of 5 for £30 BirthCircle is run by local NCT and KG Hypnobirthing trained antenatal teacher, breastfeeding counsellor and postnatal Doula Jennie Corcoran of Liminal Being Holistic Birth. Jennie is passionate about supporting people throughout their journey from pregnancy to parenthood and also volunteers as a breastfeeding peer supporter at Weston Central children's centre. What makes this class different? Whilst researching what is most needed by expecting and new parents we found continuity of care, postnatal support, accessibility, and being able to come back to the same group once their baby arrived was a common subject raised. So we have created this group with these things at the core of what we are hoping to provide. We hope to cultivate support, friendship and community - the village that new parents have been searching for. BirthCircle really is one of a kind! Sundays 10am - 12pm: 2019 1st December 15th December 2020 5th January 19th January 2nd February 16th February at Worle Library and Children’s Centre, Mendip Avenue, BS22 6HN Join the Facebook event here or Contact me to let me know you’re coming so I can buy enough cake!
What the parents are saying… "Having spent most of my pregnancy suffering from anxiety, a friend recommended I speak to Jennie as I was coping less and less as due date got closer. BirthCircle was exactly what I needed. A safe group to discuss pregnancy feelings and meet mums and dads from every stage of pregnancy and post birth. The classes leave me feeling empowered to continue and I'm looking forward to becoming a mum knowing I have this support behind me." "A very comfortable and welcoming atmosphere for open and honest conversations about birth and parenthood. Jennie has a really calm, natural and reassuring way of explaining how our bodies work for us and why our babies display certain behaviours. It was lovely to mix with both new parents and expecting parents, and to meet some gorgeous little ones. Can't wait for next session!" What the professionals are saying… "I recently joined a session of Birth Circle to share some tips on postnatal recovery exercises with the group. Jenny creates a lovely, welcoming and friendly atmosphere and she provides a knowledgeable and reassuring service in her sessions. Becoming a parent is an exciting time of great changes and there’s such an enormous amount of information out there and it can be daunting to try to find out what’s relevant, or even to find out what you really need to know - this is why groups like Birth Circle are so important. It’s such a great opportunity for expectant mums to talk to an experienced professional and learn about all aspects of pregnancy, birth and beyond, meet other mums and share experiences. I recommend this group to anyone who is expecting a baby" - Anja May, postnatal Pilates instructor "As a trainee baby massage instructor I recently visited Jennie's birth circle group to introduce myself. What a wonderful concept to have expectant mums as well as mums with newborns (and older) all in one group. An ideal space for mums to chat and exchange tips and ideas, as well as offering support to each other and giving expectant mums a useful insight in what to expect. I would thoroughly recommend this group to expectant first time mums and beyond." - Claire Broadhurst, baby massage intructor
